By registering and using Couple HOPES, you accept and agree to these terms and conditions (the “Terms”). We may amend the Terms at any time without notice. It is your responsibility to review the current posted version of the Terms each time you use Couple HOPES as you will be bound by such amendments. The owners own all content, designs, graphics, pictures, illustrations, software, artwork, video, sound, names, words, titles, phrases, logos and marks displayed on Couple HOPES, and are protected by copyright, trademark and intellectual property laws and treaty provision laws.
Use
We developed Couple HOPES to assist couples with a member with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Couple HOPES is a user-friendly digital approach to teaching participants skills to reduce stress caused by PTSD through interactive psychoeducational modules, activities, web-streamed videos, and coaching guidance.
You shall not, without our prior written permission, use Couple HOPES for purposes other than your own personal, non-commercial use. Further, you may not frame Couple HOPES or any part thereof on any website without our prior written permission. You acquire absolutely no rights or licence to Couple HOPES other than the limited right to use Couple HOPES in accordance with the Terms. You shall not use Couple HOPES for any purpose except as expressly provided herein.
Disclaimer
Your use of Couple HOPES is at your sole risk. Couple HOPES is provided "as is" and “as available”, and without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, non-infringement or third party rights and fitness for a particular purpose, and any warranties of any kind, including that access to Couple HOPES is uninterrupted or error-free, that Couple HOPES is secure or free of viruses or other harmful material, or that information on Couple HOPES is complete, accurate or timely.

Couple HOPES may contain links to third party websites. These links are provided solely as convenience to you. Neither Ryerson University nor the owners are responsible for the content of any third party website and does not endorse the information contained therein or guarantee its quality, accuracy, reliability, completeness, currency, timeliness, non-infringement, merchantability or fitness for any purpose.

Collection of Information
Couple HOPES collects personal data from you in the form of email address, first and last names, communication messages on the platform, assignment responses, assessment responses, cookies and usage data.
All personal information created, held or collected by us is protected under the Information Protection and Access Policy. Upon enrollment into the research study, you will be asked for consent to collect your information or you will be advised of the authority for such collection. We will also inform you of the purpose for which the personal information is being collected, and how to exercise your right of access to, and correction of, that information.
Your personal information is not usually disclosed to anyone other than Ryerson University staff, York University Staff, and Couple HOPES staff who have been approved by Research Ethics Boards at both Ryerson and York University, who need the information to carry out their responsibilities. Any further disclosure of the personal information you give us would be in accordance with the Information Protection and Access Policy.
We collect from your usage data, which include IP address, browser type, browser version, time and date of your visit, pages and videos of Couple HOPES you visit, time you spend on the pages and videos, unique device identifiers, and other diagnostic data.
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track your activity on Couple HOPES and hold certain information. Cookies are files with small amount of data which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a website and stored on your device. We may use other tracking technologies, such as beacons, tags, and scripts to collect and track information and to improve and analyze our Research Study, website, and mobile application.
We use the usage data to provide, maintain, and improve Couple HOPES; notify you about changes to Couple HOPES; allow you to participate in interactive features of Couple HOPES when you choose to do so; provide customer care and support; monitor the usage of Couple HOPES; detect, prevent, and address technical issues; and ask you to participate in user surveys.
Third Party Service Providers
We use third party service providers to operate Couple HOPES: Zoom and Qualtrics. Further, we use Google Analytics, to measure traffic patterns to, from, and within Couple HOPES.
Zoom is a web-based video conferencing tool with a local, desktop client and a mobile app that allows users to meet online, with or without video. Zoom users can choose to record sessions, collaborate on projects, and share or annotate on one another's screens, all with one easy-to-use platform.
We use Zoom as a communication tool between coaches and users.
Couple HOPES utilizes a Zoom Healthcare account which is HIPAA compliant. Zoom is a United States of American (USA) company. Consequently, Zoom or USA authorities may access Zoom data in some forms (e.g., aggregate usage information) and under strict policies. Qualtrics is a cloud-based platform for creating and distributing web-based surveys. It can be used on any internet-connected computer.
We use Qualtrics to collect information to support our research efforts and to improve Couple HOPES.
Some questionnaire components of this study use Qualtrics, which is a United States of American (USA) company. Consequently, Qualtrics or USA authorities may access survey data in some forms (e.g., aggregate usage information) and under strict policies. Qualtrics employs a variety of security features to make sure that the data collected are not accessible by outside bodies. Information regarding their protective privacy policy is available at: https://www.qualtrics.com/privacy-statement/. Although Qualtrics usually stores IP address data, we have deactivated that function for this study.
Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc., uses first-party cookies, which are text files placed on your computer, to help analyze how users use Couple HOPES. Google Analytics uses "session" and "persistent" cookies to collect standard log information and to track visitor behaviour information, in an anonymous form, and compile statistical reports on site activity. The information generated by the cookies about your use of the Site (including your IP address) is transmitted to Google servers outside Canada. No personally identifiable information is recorded or provided to Google. As well, Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google.
We use the statistical reports generated by Google Analytics to help us make Couple HOPES more useful to visitors.

Content Submissions
By uploading or submitting any information or content to Couple HOPES through the submission mechanisms and forms provided on Qualtrics, the Couple HOPES website and/or app, you automatically grant the Owners the non-exclusive right to use this information royalty-free, in perpetuity, for the purpose of providing the Couple HOPES services to you.
Monitoring
We have the right to monitor Couple HOPES electronically from time to time and to disclose any information as necessary to satisfy any law, regulation or other governmental request, to operate a website or any of the services properly, or to protect itself or its users in accordance with the Information Protection and Access Policy.
Indemnification
You shall defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Owners, their Directors and Board of Governors, officers, employees and agents from and against any claim or demand made by any third party, and all liabilities, damages, losses, costs and expenses (including but not limited to reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to your use of Couple HOPES, content that you transmit to Couple HOPES, or your breach of any of the Terms. We shall control the defense of any matter which is subject to indemnification by you and you shall co-operate as fully as reasonably required by the Owners.
Termination
We may in our sole discretion restrict, block or terminate your access to Couple HOPES at any time, without notice. In the event of termination, we will no longer permit you to access Couple HOPES. We are not liable to you or any party for such termination.
Governing Law
Visitors can access Couple HOPES from all Canadian provinces and territories, as well as from other countries. The Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, and these laws apply to the use of Couple HOPES, notwithstanding your domicile, residency or physical location. You hereby attorn to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Ontario and all courts competent to hear appeals therefrom.
General
If any provision of the Terms is deemed invalid or unlawful, then the provision is deemed severed without affecting the validity or enforceability of any remaining provisions.
